How your WFD Coalition is Helping
Your WFD Coalition offer training resources to assist professionals and family caregivers with managing stress and burnout as required by the Report of the Abuse & Neglect Prevention Task Force to Governor Douglas A. Ducey (November 1, 2019).
In an effort to continue the state's efforts and bring awareness in the state of Arizona, the WFD Coalition continues to work with community partners to help provider agencies adhere to the requirements and efforts of the state.

Abuse and Neglect in the IDD Community: Risk Factors, Prevention, and System Response
Presenter: Melanie Mills, State Director, The Arc of Arizona
Presentation Description:
Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience significantly higher rates of abuse, neglect, and exploitation than the general population. In this virtual session, Melanie Mills, State Director of The Arc of Arizona, will provide an overview of the unique vulnerabilities facing the IDD community, the warning signs of abuse and neglect, and the systemic barriers that can prevent effective intervention. Drawing from statewide advocacy and systems work, this presentation will explore how health care providers, insurers, and community partners can strengthen prevention efforts, improve reporting pathways, and promote safety and dignity for individuals with disabilities across the lifespan.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

Identify key risk factors that increase vulnerability to abuse and neglect for individuals with IDD.
